An ADVENTURE is usually played in one session. A session can be about 2 or 3 hours long. The GM can connect ADVENTURES over many sessions to create a CAMPAIGN.
World and story are key parts of an ADVENTURE. The GM will use WORLDBUILDING to create a setting for their players. They may include EXPLORING, COMBAT, FREETIME, and role-playing to develop the story. When making an ADVENTURE, the GM should focus on major plot points for players to experience. Things like characters, locations, items, and clues can guide players to these points.
In the first session, the GM should start by describing the world. Each session after that starts with a recap of the last session. PCs (Player Characters) take turns interacting with the world. Then, the GM responds. The GM may describe information, changes, or conflict. They may voice characters or request SKILL CHECKS.
Travel while EXPLORING depends on a PC’s actions. The GM can describe travel over long distances in a few words. Especially if nothing special happens between locations. The GM should end a session with a sense of resolve or a cliffhanger, whichever seems appropriate.
